What Choice Bank receives

The Choice Bank file BankFileKit makes from a sample QuickBooks report with fake checks. You see this proof for your own file before anything leaves your browser.

Compare these totals with your QuickBooks report.

  1. Line 1. One check per line: check number, amount, issue date and payee, in this order. Voided checks aren't sent in this layout.

  2. Line 2. A payee name with a comma goes in double quotes, so the bank reads it as one name.

Good to know

  • This is Choice Bank at bankwithchoice.com, part of Choice Financial Group.
  • Choice Bank lets you build your own file definition. This layout uses check number, amount, issued date (MMDDYY, as in Choice's guide) and payee name.
  • Choice's file definition has no void field; every check in the file is added as issued. Voided checks are left out of the file.
  • The account comes from the definition's default value, so each definition is for one account.
  • Choice allows payee names up to 96 characters, and amounts up to $99,999,999.99.

Where Choice Bank's guide doesn't say

BankFileKit fills these in with safe defaults. Your test file confirms them with Choice Bank before you send a live file.

  • BankFileKit default: Column order is BankFileKit's choice. Choice's guide lets you set any order.
  • BankFileKit default: A payee name is put in double quotes only when it has a comma, matching the default Double Quote text qualifier in Choice's guide.
  • BankFileKit default: Line endings: Windows (CRLF). Text: plain ASCII. Choice's guide doesn't say.

Note: Send a test file to Choice Bank first

Before your first live file, download the free test file with your first 3 checks, send it to Choice Bank, and confirm it was accepted. BankFileKit can't guarantee that Choice Bank will accept a file.
