4 checks$23,187.861 void

Compare these totals with your QuickBooks report.

  1. Line 1. One check per line: check number, payee, issue date, amount and issue/void code, in this order.

  2. Line 2. A payee name with a comma goes in double quotes, so the bank reads it as one name.

  3. Line 3. A voided check, marked V, with its original amount. QuickBooks shows voids as $0.00, so BankFileKit asks you for the original amount.

Good to know

  • Johnson Financial Group lets you map your own file. This layout uses check number, payee, issued date and amount, plus a record type with I for issued and V for void.
  • You choose the account when you upload, so each file is for one account.
  • If you use Payee Positive Pay, the payee name must match the printed check exactly, or the payee matching can create extra exceptions.
  • Johnson Financial also builds file maps for you. Call Treasury Management Support at 888.769.3796 if you'd rather they set it up.

Where Johnson Financial Group's guide doesn't say

BankFileKit fills these in with safe defaults. Your test file confirms them with Johnson Financial Group before you send a live file.

  • BankFileKit default: Column order and I and V codes are BankFileKit's choice. Johnson Financial's guide lets you map any order.
  • BankFileKit default: A payee name is put in double quotes only when it has a comma. The mapping screen in Johnson Financial's guide shows a Text Qualifier set to " (double quote), but its text doesn't describe it, so the steps say to check that setting.
  • BankFileKit default: Dates like 10/1/2026 (month and day without leading zeros).
  • BankFileKit default: Voided checks carry the original check amount.
  • BankFileKit default: Check numbers up to 15 digits and amounts up to $99,999,999.99. No limit on payee name length. Johnson Financial's guide doesn't publish limits.
  • BankFileKit default: Line endings: Windows (CRLF). Text: plain ASCII.
