4 checks$23,187.861 void

Compare these totals with your QuickBooks report.

  1. Line 2. One check per line: account number, issue date, check number, amount, issue/void code and payee, in this order.

  2. Line 3. A payee name with a comma is sent without the comma. The notes below say why.

  3. Line 4. A voided check, marked 2, with its original amount. QuickBooks shows voids as $0.00, so BankFileKit asks you for the original amount.

How to send it to Mid Penn Bank

  1. Mid Penn's file layout is fixed, so there's nothing to map. Before your first live file, send the free test file from BankFileKit to your Mid Penn Sales Officer so Cash Management Operations can test it.
  2. To send a file: log in to Commercial Center, open Payments & Transfers, then Positive Pay, and select Continue to Positive Pay.
  3. From the Transaction Processing menu, select Submit Issued Check File. Choose the file, your account in Account Nickname and your mapping in File Mapping Format, then select Process File.

Good to know

  • Mid Penn's layout is fixed: a header row, then account number, issue date (m/d/yyyy), check number, amount with a decimal point, item type (1 for issued, 2 for void) and payee.
  • The file can't contain any commas, so commas are left out of payee names and amounts are written without them.
  • The header row is required. Without it, Mid Penn's system skips the first check.
  • Each file is for one account. Mid Penn can't process a file with more than one account.
  • If your check prints the payee on more than one line, Mid Penn asks for a vertical bar (|) between the lines in the file.

Where Mid Penn Bank's guide doesn't say

BankFileKit fills these in with safe defaults. Your test file confirms them with Mid Penn Bank before you send a live file.

  • BankFileKit default: Header row text follows Mid Penn's example: Account, Issue Date, Check #, Amount, Issue/Void, Payee.
  • BankFileKit default: Voided checks carry the original check amount. Mid Penn's guide doesn't say.
  • BankFileKit default: Check numbers up to 15 digits and amounts up to $99,999,999.99. No limit on payee name length. Mid Penn's guide doesn't publish limits.
  • BankFileKit default: Line endings: Windows (CRLF). Text: plain ASCII.

Note: Send a test file to Mid Penn Bank first
